Why grass grids?
More and more we are struggling with groundwater shortages on the one hand and flooding on the other, because the water cannot seep into the subsoil due to increasing paving (concrete, tiles, clinkers, etc.). Therefore, Flanders has had stricter legislation on rainwater since January 1, 2014; one must either collect rainwater/rainwater in a cistern or allow it to seep into the ground. Grass paving and gravel slabs ensure that you obtain a permeable pavement, so the water can easily seep into the ground. This prevents both a shortage of groundwater and flooding without investing in an expensive drainage system. In this way we reduce our ecological footprint and prevent impoverishment of the natural biotope.
Why ECCODAL grids?
ECCOdal turf blocks are made of recycled material (mix PE-PP). Therefore, they remain flexible even at freezing temperatures and will not break. In addition, ECCOdal turf covers have expansion joints to accommodate temperature differences, therefore the turf covers will not move against each other. In addition, ECCOdal turf barriers are also suitable for passenger cars, so they are ideal as (extra) parking or driveways that are used sporadically. Finally, ECCOdal grass slabs are specifically developed as grass slabs, unlike other slabs that are used both as gravel slabs and grass slabs. The technical specifications of ECCOdal grass slabs are specifically geared toward a grass fill, while ECCOgravel gravel slabs are specifically geared toward a gravel fill. Finally, ECCOdal is a 100% Belgian quality product.
Result
You get a permeable and walkable paving with an ecological touch. ECCOdal® grass slabs can be used for various applications, such as footpaths and garden paths, but also as a driveway to a carport or as a car park. An ECCOdal® grass valley is also extremely suitable for roof terraces, fire roads, sports grounds, etc.
The large contact surface at the bottom of the grid ensures better load distribution to the substrate. Thicker cell walls make the grass gird more resistant to torsion force.
The innovative shape ensures an aesthetic and uniform result after placement. Its dimensions make this grid easy to handle. The dimensions are 80 cm x 60 cm = 0.48 m² per grid. The height of ECCOdal HD Flex is 4 cm.
ECCOdal HD Flex grass grids are produced in Belgium, from start to finish. This allows us not only to make quick deliveries, but also to apply stringent quality parameters.
Made from 100% recycled materials and 100% recyclable.
The cell sturcture can absorb all expansions from the grid. The grids can be placed in a running bond to ensure extra strength to the entire structure.
HD Flex grass grids provide a passable lawn without risk of rutting and and aesthetic and uniform result after placement.
ECCOdal HD Flex grass grids can be used for several purposes:
- Footpaths and garden paths
- Horse arena’s and paddocks
- Camping sites
- Sporadically used driveway or grass parking
The installation of ECCOdal HD flex grass grids is easy and quick. Before you start, select the grid type you require carefully and choose the correct foundation depth.
STEP 1: Excavation
Perform the necessary excavation works. Always remove the topsoil.
STEP 2: Foundation
Place the foundations/sub-foundation at a depth of at least 25 cm. Work in layers of 20 cm at the most, and compact with a plate compactor. The foundation case can consist of: lava, limestone pebbles, porphyry pebbles or crushed concrete rubble (chip size distribution: 16-32 or 20-40 mm). Hollow spaces (about 80%) should be filled with topsoil.
STEP 3: Substrate levelling layer
Place the substrate levelling layer. The depth of the levelling layer for vehicular applications must be 5 cm, for non-vehicular applications 15 cm. The levelling layer preferably consists of lava (chip distribution: 0-4 mm).
STEP 4: ECCODAL HD Flex grass grids
Place the ECCOdal grass grids and snap them in place using the expansion joints. Cut with a disk cutter and place in running bond for extra strength of the entire structure.
STEP 5: Adding substrate to ECCODAL HD Flex
Add the substrate to the grass grids up to 1 cm (max 0.5 cm) from the edge of the grid. You can use a self-compacting substrate, that way you no longer need to brush out anything as the substrate will compact naturally.
STEP 6: Sowing
Sow the grass into the grass grids.
STEP 7: Inspection
Inspect a few weeks after first use and brush out if necessary.
