A family in Belgium wanted an outdoor space that is permeable, low-maintenance and safe for children.
The challenge
596 m² of outdoor surface needed to become one visually and functionally unified space. The driveway had to withstand vehicle traffic, the walkways needed to be safe for children playing outside, and the entire area had to be finished with a permeable surface, without cement or concrete.
The solution
Vuba powered by ECCO werd over de volledige oppervlakte toegepast in de kleur Necker Island. De warme, lichte blend sluit aan bij de architectuur van de woning en geeft het terrein een verzorgde, natuurlijke uitstraling.
The system consists of three layers. VubaMac forms the resin-bound base layer made with recycled aggregate, with a flexural strength twice as high as asphalt. VubaMesh is a reinforcing mesh made from recycled plastic that helps prevent cracks in the surface. VubaTop is the UV-resistant top layer in the gravel colour of your choice.
Thanks to the flexibility of the system, expansion joints are not required: no interruptions in the surface, no weak points. Rainwater infiltrates locally with a permeability of 37 litres per second per m².
The result
One material, one colour, 596 m². From the driveway to the garden path, the finish creates a clean and seamless whole. No joint maintenance, no loose elements. The walkways are safe and comfortable, even for children playing there every day.
