The challenge

Domein Lepelem welcomes visitors for parties, holidays, team-building activities and events. The outdoor area therefore had to be laid out practically for temporary parking use, without losing the estate’s green character.

A traditional hard surface would feel visually too heavy in this rural setting. At the same time, the car park needed to be stable enough to accommodate cars during events. Permeability was also important. Rainwater had to be able to infiltrate locally, so that the car park remains functional without unnecessary paving.

A traditional hard surface would feel visually too heavy in this rural setting. At the same time, the car park needed to be stable enough to accommodate cars during events. Permeability was also important. Rainwater had to be able to infiltrate locally, so that the car park remains functional without unnecessary paving.

The grass parking area needed to be sturdy enough for visitors, while also fitting the look and feel of the estate. ECCOdal offered the right balance between stability, permeability, and greenery.

The solution

For the grass parking area, ECCOdal was chosen, a strong plastic grass grid made from recycled material. Over an area of 2,700 m², the grass grids provide a permeable, walkable and occasionally drivable surface with an ecological look.

ECCOdal stabilises the subsoil and protects the grass area against rut formation. This creates a parking zone that is solid enough for use during events, yet remains visually green.

The result is a green grass parking area that blends nicely with the rural surroundings of Domaine Lepelem.

The parking provides additional parking capacity for visitors without disrupting the site’s appearance. Thanks to ECCOdal, the grass area remains more stable under vehicle use and rainwater can infiltrate locally.

In this way, the project combines functionality, permeability and a natural look in one sustainable parking solution.
