The challenge

Domein Lepelem welcomes visitors for parties, holidays, team-building and events. The outdoor area therefore had to be laid out practically for temporary parking use, without losing the estate’s green character.

Traditional hard surfacing would feel visually too heavy in this rural setting. At the same time, the car park had to be stable enough to accommodate cars during events. Water permeability was also important. Rainwater needed to be able to infiltrate locally, so the car park remains functional without unnecessary hard surfacing.

The grass parking area needed to be sturdy enough for visitors, while also fitting the estate’s look and feel. ECCOdal offered the right balance of stability, water permeability, and greenery.

The solution

For the grass car park, ECCOdal was chosen, a strong plastic grass grid made from recycled material. Over an area of 2,700 m², the grass grids provide a permeable, walkable and occasionally drivable surface with an ecological appearance.

ECCOdal stabilises the sub-base and protects the grass area against rutting. This creates a parking area that is sturdy enough for use during events, while remaining visually green.

The car park provides additional parking capacity for visitors without disrupting the estate’s appearance. Thanks to ECCOdal, the grass area remains more stable when used by vehicles and rainwater can infiltrate locally.

In this way, the project combines functionality, permeability and a natural look in one sustainable parking solution.
