How do you install CORE Edge powered by ECCO?
CORE Edge powered by ECCO is easy and quick to install, without any special tools.
Step 1 — Prepare the ground
Prepare the ground where you want to install the edging. If the ground is hard, loosen it to make driving it in easier.
Step 2 — Place the first length
Place the first length of CORE Edge powered by ECCO into the ground, close to the dug-out edge, with the logo on the visible side.
Step 3 — Drive it in
Drive the edging in using a wooden block and a hammer. The block protects the top edge and makes the work safer.
Step 4 — Connect the lengths
Connect the next length using the large connecting tab at the top of each edging.
Step 5 — Lock
Using pliers, bend the locking tabs at the bottom sideways so that both lengths are fully secured (Dual Lock Mechanism™).
Step 6 — Anchor (looser soil)
On looser ground, use the anchoring pins: insert the clip through the opening at the bottom, tap the pin in and drive it down until it sits against the clip for extra fixing.
Step 7 — Finish
Repeat until the end. The result is a clean finish—straight, curved, or in 90° corners.

Frequently asked questions
-
What is the best way to create a curved shape with CORE Edge?
That depends on how tight the bend needs to be.
Tight bend
Bend each edging piece separately around a suitable cylindrical object, such as a bucket filled with soil or a round post.
Gentle curve
You have two options, depending on how many people are on site.
- On your own: bend each piece slightly by hand and connect the pieces one by one.
- With several people: first connect the desired number of edging pieces together — make sure the double locking tabs click firmly into place. Start at one end and gradually tap the edging into the ground, while your colleagues hold the curve in place.
-
What is the best way to install CORE Edge in very soft ground?
The preformed anchoring pins can easily be tapped into soft ground. It is recommended to place a piece of brick or a flat stone under the edging at regular intervals to prevent the edging from sinking under direct pressure. An alternative is to support the edging with a concrete backing, positioned just below the top edge. When the edging needs to protrude above ground level, for example with a raised border, the galvanised stabilising pins provide extra support and long-lasting stability.
-
What is the best way to install CORE Edge in a hard surface?
The anchoring pins for CORE Edge are extremely durable and can be driven into most firm surfaces using a wooden mallet or a wooden block. If the surface is particularly hard, it is recommended to loosen it first with a digging fork or a pickaxe. Once the edging is in place, press the soil firmly against it by lightly tamping it down. If the edging needs to protrude above ground level, for example in a raised bed, the galvanised stabilising pins may be needed for extra support.
