The challenge

Domein Lepelem welcomes visitors for parties, holidays, team-building and events. The outdoor area therefore had to be laid out practically for temporary parking use, without losing the green character of the estate.

A conventional hard surface would feel visually too heavy in this rural setting. At the same time, the car park needed to be stable enough to accommodate cars during events. Permeability was also important. Rainwater needed to be able to soak in locally, so that the car park remains functional without unnecessary hard surfacing.

A conventional hard surface would feel visually too heavy in this rural setting. At the same time, the car park needed to be stable enough to accommodate cars during events. Permeability was also important. Rainwater needed to be able to soak in locally, so that the car park remains functional without unnecessary hard surfacing.

The grass parking area had to be firm enough for visitors, while also fitting the estate’s look and feel. ECCOdal offered the right balance between stability, permeability and greenery.

The solution

For the grass parking area, ECCOdal was chosen, a strong plastic grass grid made from recycled material. Over an area of 2,700 m², the grass grids provide a permeable, walkable surface that can be driven on occasionally, with an ecological appearance.

ECCOdal stabilises the sub-base and protects the grass area against rutting. This creates a parking area that is sturdy enough for use during events, while still looking green.

The result

The result is a green grass parking area that blends in nicely with the rural surroundings of Domain Lepelem.

The parking area provides additional parking capacity for visitors without disrupting the estate’s appearance. Thanks to ECCOdal, the grass area remains more stable when used by vehicles, and rainwater can infiltrate locally.

In this way, the project combines functionality, permeability and a natural look in one sustainable parking solution.
